The story
Citizen have a long and storied past making dive watches, dating back over 60 years; in fact their watch is a bewildering catalogue of shapes, colors and sizes, some of which stand toe to toe with some of the very best dive watches ever made, and certainly some of the best value divers available.
During this Citizen Cie dive watch's 60+ year's life it had remained in good condition, save for a mottling patina on it's otherwise glossy black dial.
In great condition these watches are very expensive but with a degraded dial they are considered far less attractive. The mottling however appeared to resemble the stones at the bottom of a dark pond, where the waters are still and black but transparent.
The use of fish were a clear way to enhance this appearance. The style was to use monotone colors to maintain a muted and discreet feeling of the scene; with some subtle lotus flowers and pads added to match the dot of aged lume that sits next to each hour marker.
