Water calming Beast

In the 1970s, Enicar, a Swiss watch brand known for its precision and craftsmanship, produced a range of elegant dress watches that reflected the era's style and innovation. Characterized by their slim profiles and classic designs, these watches often featured gold or stainless steel cases, minimalist dials, and high-quality automatic movements.

The inspiration for this design was the raised band that bisects the middle of the dial. The water-calming beast in Chinese culture, 镇水兽, is often placed atop a water source, to protect the precious resources. The beast is often carved out of stone, so the painting here is almost entirely in grey to represent the stone water and creature.
