Daurian Redstart

This Shanghai A581 watch is from the 1960s and had developed a b dutiful creamy patina which had unfortunately become scratched in an area to the bottom left. This became an opportunity to place a traditional plum blossom tree in that area to contrast with the whiter section.

Approaching the tree from the right hand side, is the tiny Daurian Redstart bird, common in quieter, more green parts of the city.

This bird is kept small to preserve as much of the creamy patina as possible. The style of painting echoes the Shanghai school of painting.
